:mad3: Ok help me out here ...97 Tahoe has 2 issues...

First one...Every now and then my oil pressure gauge (on the instrument panel) seems to go wacky. Goes all crazy and stuff then quits and goes back to normal. The hell??:iq:

Second one...When I start my tahoe after it sits over night it seems to tick or have a weird almost tick for 30 second to a minute. Then once warm or starting to warm its gone. NO ticks when driving or leaks. Could this be linked to Issue One???? Please post replys thanks

the gage isssue sounds like either a bad connection at the back of the gage or oil pressure switch , or a bad oil pressure gae /switch itself.
the other issue sunds like a stiking lifter. the colder the temperature the more prevalent it is. once the oil pressure builds up inside the lifter it goes away.

not sure on the gauge, if your in cooler weather the tick can be the half sleeves chevy put in the 350 vortec instead of full piston sleeves. mine does it on cold mornings, and i've talked first hand with others and my buddy at napa who said the same thing.

Sounds good:cool: Man thanks again guys. I use this forum alot because someone always answers with some good ol knowledge. Ive done a little research on this "tick" in the cold and seems EVERYONE with these older tahoes gets it too. Thanks again. Im gonna check the wiring and connections on that guage.. :mad2: Can i get the oil pressure switch at Autozone?

yeah my 99 has the same issue and ive come to determine its the sticky lifter. my dads 97 truck w/ a 305 doesthe same exactly thing at start up. so i jsut let it warm up a few mins before i head out to prevent any issues,

I think just about every V8 Chevy I've ever owned has done the "tick" thing when the engine is cold. Like these guys said, a lifter tick is not really anything to worry about.
