i just bought a 97 tahoe 2 door with the vortec 5700. the check engine light is on due to the previous owner hollowing out the catyletic converter. so, since i need this truck to pass an emmissions test in my state and i dont want to stare at the ce light glowing at me continously here's my question. can i disable the ce light and turn off the rear oxygen sensor with a diablo sport predator tuner?

Why don't you just get a used stock cat from a local pick-a-part or junk yard and just replace it, if the old owner hollowed it out for alittle more flow and horsepower it's not enough to make a difference that you'll feel 5 to 10 HP Max, put the stock back on, I would. Just my opinion:thumbsup:

i was thinking the same thing but the exhaust is all welded together at the seams. no exhaust clamps were used.

well if u want that light to go off the right way and for it to pass emissions, replace the cat. If you take the light out and still think the emissions ppl are stupid, they dont look at just the light, they plug a computer in and read everything..

- Look, you can always just buy o2 Simulators.. and keep the cats hollowed out.. and they don't cost that much - all you have to do is buy em, put em on, turn the SES light off, and drive it for a good drive (50 miles+ all one trip) and make sure the SES light doesn't come back on.. http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/o2sim.html - you should have 2 cats and 2 rear o2s (NOTE: the o2 Sims are ONLY for the Rear o2s)
