96 yukon transmission problems

Hi I am in need of some help. My 1996 Yukon runs great and there are no codes stored. When I drive around it runs great. The problem is when I try to accelerate fast to pass a car. The motor starts to rev up but the transmission has a hard time kicking down. It feels like something is holding back. If I let off the gas it will shift and begin to accelerate. It shifts fine through all the gears but only has the kick down problem when I apply 3/4 to full throttle. It is an interment problem and some times its fine. Can any one help? The motor wants to go but the transmission wont let it
