i have a 96 tahoe. everything worked fine on it a while back. i pulled the dash out to put a heater core in it. and when i put it back together. i had a issue with the gauge cluster. and the radio. the gauge cluster when i put my left turn signal on the tach will go from idle 500 ish rpms to 0. everytime the left turn signal clicks. the light on the dash for the bright headlights is on and it pulses with the left turn signal. this only happend after i put the heater core in. all my grounds are hooked up. and clean. i put a new turn signal switch in. tried a new head light switch. still nothing.

now for the radio part. it will power up. but no sound. and sometimes when i turn the volume up the tach will go all the way up. weird.

i just bought another tahoe for parts mainly the interior and body pannels. so i decided to switch all the wiring over from the new tahoe which is a 98. to my 96. so everything is swapped over except for the rear ac. harness.
i hooked the gauge cluster up and radio up. the gauge cluster does the same thing. but the tach doesnt read unless i rev the motor up then it reads but its low. and now the radio works fine?

anyone got any ideas? im stumped. ive been working on this thing since thursday. im getting fery pissed at this thing. oh and the tahoe wont start with the 99 computer in it but will start with the 96 computer.

JMHO, but I would go back to heater core..........there must be a pinched wire somewhere. Good luck

i really dont think its a pinched wired. with it being in both harnesses. my heater box had a crack in it. so i replaced it with the heater box out of the 98 tahoe.

my guess would be a body control module but i cant find one. i saw on a coupe websites that they dont have a bcm.

Dont think our style used a BCM......

I would check for grounds....... use a meter and a test light to check every ground.....
