Hi guys, I have a 95 Tahoe 5.7L 4WD that developed a stalling problem about a week ago. The vehicle would just die going down the road like you shut the key off. After about 10 mintues it would start again and be fine for a few days. It soon started happening all the time and now wont start. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, ignition module, and coil. Cap, rotor and plugs were down a couple months ago and they still look fine. Any help would be appeciated.

No it won't fire with gas down the TBI. I did some exploring today and discovered the fuel pump not turning on. I applied power to the circuit for the fuel pump and got it to turn on and fuel is getting to the throttle body. My question is; Does the PCM not turn on the ignition system if it detects no signal from the fuel pump relay? I don't have spark at the plugs even when I supply power to the fuel pump circuit Do I possibly have a bad PCM?

The fuses all check out good. I have the fuel pump coming on now, but I still don't have any spark. I have changed the cap, rotor, coil, ignition module and still have no spark coming from the coil or plug wires. Both electrical connectors on the coil have 12Volts to the plug. I also installed a new ECM. Still with no luck.

ECM doesnt control spark untill it is running, the ICM is what controls the spark, as long as you have power to that it should throw spark. Pull the harness off the coil, put a testlight across the 2 terminals (pink/white?) and see if it blinks/lights up. If that is good, suspect coil wire, or coil, if the testlight is a no go, suspect ICM or pickup coil, or power to ICM......

Well apparently I had two problems. The ECM did get the fuel pump working yesterday and we discovered the the pick-up coil had an open circuit, so no spark. I ordered a complete new distributor because the reluctor had a lot of play in it and the shaft parts were all rusty and sticking. Hopefully dropping in the new distributor will cure my no spark problem. Hopefully.

Well that was it. Dropped a new distributor in it, hook everything up and she fired right up! Runs nice and smooth now. Took a look at the old one and it was all rusty in the pick up coil area. So glad that's over. Thanks for the help guys!
