New owner, just put 70k miles on it and observed the Oil Life at 49%. How accurate and what exactly is this percentage measuring?

When I do get the oil changed, any other major maintenance that sure be incurred during this at this milage?

Thanks

Welcome!. The oil life system is actually pretty accurate, according to both GM and independent 3rd party studies. It takes into account not only mileage, but other factors like eng load, operating temp, operating time, etc.
If you haven't performed the following yet for maintenance, I would change the trans filter and fluid, check differential fluid level, flush brake system with new brake fluid, lube chassis and steering components, rotate tires, change fuel filter, and check air filter.

I read somewhere that the Oil Life indicator just counted something simple like total engine rotations or ignitions, and that it was a very good indicator of engine oil life because that is what wears down oil. Makes sense - you can idle an engine for 60 hours straight and not travel a mile, but still be breaking down your oil  3000 miles isn't a great indicator there...
