Started noticing some weird issues with the Tahoe today. We are at about 170k and haven't really had any serious stuff yet but this is concerning. While sitting at some red lights I have begun to notice some significant shaking or shuddering. This occurs whether the vehicle is in drive or neutral or park. However it seems to smooth out if I rev the engine to at least 1500rpm. About the same time the service stabilitrak message began displaying on the console every few minutes and once I'm pretty sure I saw an error message for the traction control as well. Anybody got any ideas?

Mine 07 tahoe does that too. Usually right when I fill up. Only one time did it actually shift hard but I chalk it up to too much technology. It seems to go away after a bit. Almost resembles the situation when you fill a car up too full and it contaminates the filter. I'm guessing they still use the carbon filters. Mine only does it at random times and it's not often. I'll keep my eyes on this post though. I've wondered myself and sure that one day it will become a bigger issue. Hopefully it's not the computer....

That reminds me it also shifted hard a few times and it's never done that before either.

It seems to commonly be a problem with the electrical. I guedd too much technology means too much stuff to go wrong. I narrowed mine down to filling up with gas. Unfortunately, on the cars that I've figured out, if you get that filter in the egr system wet by trying to get those few extra clicks of the pump to top it off, then replacement is the only thing and it's not cheap to get replaced. I think it may be also be a faulty sensor giving false info so I'm going to go through and check them one by one. These trucks have horrible electrical problems typically. The grounds they have just can't keep up with the load. I'm an airplane electrician so I went through and rewired a bunch and found that the main ground from the battery fixes many of the issues. I'm kinda hoping that maybe some of the sensors are just worn from the previous faults. By the way, if you have the common "loss of power" while trying to start or your gauges shutter as they try to roll backward, that's what causes it. I'll definitely keep all my efforts posted and hopefully someone has already been down this road and let's me know where to look first. I'm flying blind at the moment.

Replacing my O2 sensor today seemed to make a huge difference. No more shuddering or hard shifting and in my 10 minute test drive no stabilitrak or traction control error messages.

Sweet. I hope that's all it is. I have thrown a light for my bank 2 before. I haven't had time to play with it though, Thanksgiving and all. That would be awesome if that's the cure. Keep me informed.

That's a shame. I was hoping you were on to something.

I found my problem. It's in the fuel management. Something trips the computer (ebcm) and it constantly tries to adjust the ratio. It starts affecting other components and stabilitrak is one of the first systems to eat it. Don't know why. If you can get it to a decent mechanic with the right computer, have them reset it. Should cover fuel management and the afm (4 to 8 cylinder mode) I did this and it works better than ever and was less than $100. Grab some fresh gas too and hopefully it will work out just as good. I started bouncing this off of symptoms from the ecu in other forums and they covered the same exact issue. Worked for them too. Worth a shot.

Ok so my check engine light finally went off now after replacing the o2 sensor. Must take awhile for the computer to reset on its own. The stabilitrak error messages have not returned yet and the truck is shifting smoothly. It does still idle roughly and shudder though so it sounds like you are probably on the right track. I wonder if Autozone would be able to perform the reset you mentioned.

It's possible. I wouldn't put too much hope in it though. They can reset your engine light but this may go a little deeper. Worth a shot though.

Did any codes come up for you? I'm having similar issues so ran diagnostics and 2 codes came up..P0300 random misfire and P0304 cylinder 4 misfire. I'm gonna try the things I have read here to see if it fixes anything

What was the result? Did you get it resolved?

I was told by the person who checked my car that I needed a whole new engine! That it looked like something got sucked through my #4 cylinder. However I am getting a 2nd opinion because I was reading in this forum that another person had the same issues and people in the forum replied and said it has something to do with the fuel management system in the 07 Tahoe engines specifically. That I should ask for a compression leak down test to see where it's leaking (exhaust, etc) then from there you can tell what needs to be fixed. They quoted a technical service bulletin PIP4568L that was put out by Chevy or GM? About the engines causing weak lifters to collapse? So I think my next step will be to take it to a Chevy dealer and ask about this. But I tried changing spark plugs and that didn't help...the post I read in this forum seemed like the answer to my issue cause the person who posted....had the EXACT same problems I am having
