New to the forum. I did a search and didn't see anything.

Both of my rear air shocks have blown the bags. Is there a non-air version, standard type shock that I can replace them with?

I can find several brands that say they will "fit', just curious if anyone has done it and if there were any repercussions.

Thanks in advance!

shock replacement

We have an 07 Escalade and also an 07 LTZ Tahoe. Both have the same air suspension and we have replaced the rear shocks on both with Arnotts air shocks (about $420 for pair on line). The Tahoe also had to have a new compressor. Both were installed by a retired chevy mechanic that does a little work in his garage for friends. We were advised NOT to put standard shocks on either by folks who (we think) know a lot more than us. Only problem I'm having with the LTZ is I can't get the "service suspension system" light to reset. I know this didn't really address your question, just relating our experience.

Thanks. I just hate spending that much for a pair of shocks!

I know but believe me, it could be MUCH worse if you went to a dealer for this issue.

I have no doubt. I'm also curious why neither one of the air compressors has been operating non-stop? I replaced one of them not so long ago, but I didn't discover the problem with the shocks until the rear end started to sag some.

I would have thought that the compressors would be running all the time to try and keep air in the shocks. Maybe there is some kind of failsafe to prevent the compressors from burning up.

If anyone has gone with standard shocks, lemme know what happened.

Thanks!
