I took my tahoe to walmart to get a oil change and they put 5w30 synthetic oil in. After I got home I was hearing a loud chirping sound from the motor. I replaced both belts and still had the sound. I took both belts off and still hear the sound. It's really loud at idle and I can hear it when I'm driving. Does not affect the performance of the car while driving. I did change the oil they put in back to regular 5w30 and it still makes the noise. Car has 145,000 miles on it. My local mechanic says it needs a new motor but I'm hoping he is wrong. Thanks for any help with this problem.

Chirping sound. I don't think I have ever heard a noise described as that before. Maybe a more descriptive description and possible location in (engine bay)?

The sound seems like it's coming from the front of the motor( where the belts and pulleys are). It sounds like a bad belt but it's not the belt. Would a timming chain make this kind of noise? The motor runs good. Thanks for the reply

Without really hearing it, I will be guessing all day long. So many things it might be. With the belt off and still a noise and being upfront. My next couple guess are: Maybe a bad spark plug wire jumping to ground?? Exhaust leak?
