I bought this Tahoe a little over a week ago. It has 124,000 miles on it and drives perfect. It has started fine all week with no issues at all until this weekend. On Saturday, when I went to start it in the morning, it had a hard turn over and immediately started a tapping sound in the front end. I turned it off and started it again with no sound. I started it on Sunday morning with no tapping sound and drove it 300 miles home. Today, when I went to start it, it did the hard turn over and started the tapping sound. It is coming from the left side of the motor right under the oil filler area. It sounds like the rocker arms. I ended up driving it and the sound stopped about a mile down the road. The sound got faster and louder the higher the rpms. Other than the sound, the truck ran and drove perfectly fine. What should be the first step to solving this issue. I don't have much of a budget and I am capable of working on the motor myself.

New to the forum and thanks for the help.
