Hey folks;
So my wife's 03 Yukon XL needed tires and a bunch of 50 thousand mile maintenance. I usually do alal the maintenance, but I ran out of time. So, I brought the car to a place that had a great deal on tires and they also did other automotive work. The last bit of maintenance I needed was the filter changed in the trans. They called me and told me that GM doesn't reccomend doing this unless the trans is put into extreme duty. This note came from Alldata. I was confused, since the factory manuals says otherwiese. So I told them to not do any thing. They showed me the note and it was for the 6.0 liter engine, not the 5.3.
So, I'm still not convinced this is correct. Is there a different transmission on the 6.0 liter engine? I know my wife's Volkkswagon had a life long trans fluid, but it was a synthetic fluid, not Dexron, and the manual clearly stated that you do not need to change the fluid. I was going to contact a GMC dealer to see what they say, but thougth I'd start here. Any thoughts? Thanks folks
