2003 Tahoe steering wheel on an '02 Z71

First off I'm new the site, so hello.

I'm trying to put the 2003 base steering wheel on my 2002 Z71. I know that the wheel will fit, but I'm trying to find out if the air bag from my 2002 will fit in the 2003 steering wheel. Thanks in advance

Short answer, no.

The wheel design in the Chevrolet Tahoe was changed for the 2003 model year, therefore the air bag is shaped differently as well. If you were to change the steering wheel, you would have to change the air bag as well.

Also, I remember reading somewhere that the air bags from 2003+ were not compatible in older vehicles, so you may have to do some research into that if you plan on continuing with this modification.

Thank you very much. I thought that they haven't changed the sensor is a while, though? Ummm, I'll have to look into it. I would at Pohanka Lexus, and we own a Chevy right next door. Maybe I can get with them and talk to them about it. Thanks again JsnChristianson.
