2002 Tahoe LT AutoRide 5.3Vortec/4 X 2 with Traction Assist.

HI Guy's just found/joined the forum,
My Wife & are are both Big Chevy fans we both have had them growing up,well since then we got married had/have 2 kids and the With wanted the Mini Van thing.....Yeah I know, but just before X-mas the wife got hit by a hit & run A$$hole and her Van has been deemed totaled which brings me here.:yaya:

We are looking @ an 02 Tahoe with pretty much everything leather, power this & that and a sunroof (the wWife wants the third row)I like it but it's not a 4 X 4 it has the traction assist we live in MA. so we have snow from December to March so is there anybody here who has this option, what are your thoughts on it......Also any other info Pro's & Con's on this Tahoe would be greatly appreciated.

The Consumer Report Guide Raves about the 2002 it has great ratings,I'm eager for this SUV but I wanted the 4 X 4 but willing to settle for this traction assist thing....Meaning is it good in the snow.

Many thank's

Bob

I dont have a Tahoe, I have a Suburban. It is a 2wd model that also has the traction assist.

See I was looking for a 2WD when I was shopping for an SUV earlier last year. I did'nt want a 4x4 due to the many issues I have seen with other 4x4. That is not to say the 4x4 in these things is bad, just that 4x4 is not my cup of tea.

I'm from the Midwest and, like you, we get snow from dec-mar. Since I have had my truck, it has snowed at least 40something inches. During those snows, I had no problem at all with the 2wd. The traction assist helps a lot. I'm more of a turn the switch off type of guy and lets get sideways.

I dont regret getting a 2wd at all.

I have an '02 Tahoe with 4wd in ct. Go with one that has 4wd, it's not like there's any shortage of them in New England. It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

Thank's sounds great......WTF is a G80?LOL,JK
Just kidding,I have no idea what a G80 is,I assume it's the winter gear the second gearing in the Traction assist.
I've reasearched the sh!t on ttraction assist option but all I could come up with was technical info which is fine and all but I want to hear live testamony so I searched for Chevy forumes and I found youz Guys:thumbsup:

Tahoeman960208,
Thank's for the advice I have a 4X4 and a work truck I told the Wife she can take my ride to work if it's gonna snow that day.
My work truck is Co. issue F250 4X2 and it not bad I first thought it was gonna be a friggin sled but's ok.
Your right there are plenty of 4x4's up here but there's two things to that one.One we have come across some but there's waaaaaaay to many miles on it and the other people won't budge on there price:cryin:
I have a budget that I don't want to exceed.

Thanks for the info guys....Anymore?

The G80 is a code found on the sticker in the glove box for the locking rear differential. You can do a little more research in it by searching for eaton G80.

Bought it:cool2:
It has the G80 read it in da glove box,I took it for a spin handled better than expected steering was tight, sounded solid tires have 12K on-em breaks allaround were done over the summer it has some scratches but I'll take care of that.
So mean while out for the test run I found a un plowed parking lot:smilielol:
After that little spin I was sold!
We are picking up Saturday so I'll post some pix Sunday, look like Im staying on da Forums Guys:iq:
