2002 Tahoe Double Din Navigation Installations

Hello Forum people,

I have a 2002 chevy tahoe and purchased a 2 din navigation system. i understand that the stock unit on the truck is a 1.5 din. i was told that i can convery my dash to a 03 and install the navigation system to it. is this true? if so what parts would i need to have? what part do i need to make my navigation system work with the on-star unit? is there any other (less expensive) way to install the unit without getting a 03 dash?

DONT BUY THE 03 DASH!!!!

You will have to do as much modding if not more to an 03 dash bezel as you would your 02. The reason is the opening for the radio and the HVAC is moved a tad bit more towards the steering wheel and is a little narrower.

It also doesn't line up just right with the lower center console.
