I need help trying to understand what I need to do. I have a 2001 Tahoe i wouldn't trade for the world! It has just over 150k miles but is in need of new shocks. I had new front shocks put on this week but was told the rear shocks were not standard shocks. I don't think they are air ride because I don't think they are talking air compression or auto lifting. The shocks at Advance Auto were by Monroe and they were $484 each? Ouch! This was the only option is what I am being told. Does anyone have any suggestions on a if this is true is there a cheaper option or a way to convert to standard shocks. I hate to cheapen my ride but 900 to fix rear shocks is a little rough for me. Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

Thank you!

Any time I want
Yea those are called load levellers not air ride but somewhat self adjusting... there like 700 from the dealer and you don't want to go low budget because youwill hate the bumpy bouncy ride had a buddy do that and he was hating life

do you have the Lt model

I know I should know this but I am not sure. i think it is LT. It doesn't have any marking on the truck to say what style. Assuming I have to and should stick with the other shocks but it seemed as though Advance Auto wasn't sure they called the shop directly trying to figure out what shocks I needed so I wanted to see if anyone else knew or might even know a correct part # so I could shop around a bit.

Thanks!

Amazon

I just put on those shocks on my 2002 yesterday. I ordered them from amazon for 199 each. Ac Delco 580 354. Original equipment. mine is 4wd. Amazon was the cheapest by far, even beating rock auto. Don't do Monroe. I put Monroe on the front and they were awful. Yesterday I also put ac delco 540 184 on the front, and it rides like it did when new.
