I have a 2001 Tahoe and i took it to bestbuy and got a new pioneer head unit installed. The stereo works and sounds great, but when i did not drive my car for 2 days my battery was dead. I got a brand new battery and something continued to drain it. I found that the stock amp was always hot. It was draving power when the cd player and car where off. I pulled the fuse for it and my cd player works but i have no sound. And my battery also does NOT die. I pulled the dash off and looked at the wiring and found a second harness not connected to the new cd player and two wire were cut and wired together and the harness was not plugged into anything, this was causeing the amp to always be hot. What do i do about this? Did they wire it incorectly or do i have another probolem

this is the same exact problem i am having. I used a paperclip to jump to wires, in the plug that you're talking about and everything works great but, the battery goes down. I'm wondering what would happen if i wire the green wire in the plug(the one that seems to have some effect on the sound coming through or not) to the switched 12v coming from the radio so i know that it goes off when the key is off but has power when the radio is on. Another idea is that maybe it should be wired into the remote turn on for an amp, that should be in the cluster of wires coming out of your h/u but not connected to anything, unless you have and aftermarket amp/sub set up.

I would just take the truck back to the Best Buy that installed your radio, and sspeak to the store manager. Tell him your issue and let him know that this is UNACCEPTABLE and you want it repaired correctly NOW!

that sounds like it would work, becaseu that is how an aftermarket sub works correct. I will have to try that tomarrow. Best buy connected the blue remoter wire into the harness, witch i could figure out why, they used a special connecter that could be atached/detached instead of a normal wire nut like all the ohters, but i have nothing else aftermarket just the cd player.
