My brother just called as he was going onto a lake to go ice fishing, apparently he pushed one of the 4wd and now both of the lights, top and bottom are lit. Any ideas? Trucks, got miles and use with 4wd, mainly high or auto. Wind chill is way below zero here, could something have froze to cause this?

Try pressing and holding the 2WD button in while turning the key on.
If that doesn't work, either pull the transfer case fuse or disconnect the neg battery terminal and wait for 30 seconds or so.

First idea did not work, I didn't mention the transfer case fuse because when I said "disconnect the negative terminal for a bit over 30 seconds on the battery, then reconnect it and start the truck" only to get a "well wait, wahere's the battery..ok..there's no terminals." Bah! booksmart truckdumb.

Not sure what the "default" mode is. I do know that the system can enter a fault mode (encoder reading problem) in which it will go only into 2WD or 4WD LO.
