Hi all, new to this forum for posting threads but have got some valuable information from in the past.

I have a 1998 Chevy Tahoe with 2 problems I hope you can help with.

1. My drivers side heated seat isn't working. The passenger is working fine. I've checked the inside fuse and the one inside the hood, but they are fine. Any suggestions on troubleshooting?

2. I have split rear-doors. One side of the door's defroster isn't working. Do I need to take off the inside panel to fix? I haven't the slightest clue on this problem.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to drive this sucker into the ground so I have no problem continually working on it. FYI, still running great at 120,000 miles.

I also have a '98 with the exact same 2 problems, but I've never fixed either one. I have heard that its usually the elements in the seat and requires the whole seat cover to be replaced ($$$). I used some fine grit sand paper to clean up those terminals on the rear door, but it didn't solve the problem. Oh well, I can live without both.

My driver's seat heater isnt working either... but before it went out, I remember it making funny electrical noises... and getting pretty hot sometimes... so i figure maybe its better that it doesn't work... for now

Thanks for the replies but does anyone have any concrete-fixes? Being winter, I'm more concerned with the rear-defroster not working. Sucks to have to actually scrape one window. :)

Again, thanks for all the help.

I dont have barn doors, so I coudln't be sure, but are the connections to the defrost lines ok? Also, are any of the defrost lines on the window broken? I believe they have repair kits for things like that...

For the rear defroster...

Check the contacts to see if power is comming through... I don't have the barn doors, so I'm nto positive, but the schematics show that you should be getting power from the contacts in the door jab (up top). Test the good side first, to see where the power is at. Then check the bad side. If you are not getting power to the bad side, then that means the problem lies in the body wires... If you are getting power, then that means the problem is inside the door... anywhere from the door jab connection to the heating grid on the window.

-PPL (purple?) wire is the (+), and black wire is (-). I don't see any door switches, so it might mean you can test power easily... otherwise try to push any door ajar switches to make the truck think the rear doors are closed.

Give it a shot...
