1998 Chevy Tahoe - Play in steering. What's the cause?

I've got play in the steering of my Tahoe. What's the normal cause of this?

I haven't had it checked but it doesn't pull to one side or the other.

my 99 had a problem with play. it needed a pittman arm. about a hundred bucks if you pay someone to fix.

could be pitman/ idler arms, worn steering box, or needs a new steering sensor.
