1996 gmc yukon a/c condenser e-fan

has anyone ever installed this fan? Dorman part #621-300. It's supposed to fit the yukon. The picture has like a plug but will this plug into my yukon wiring? Any feedback would be great. I just had my a/c serviced but I dont feel it that cold.For the record my system was checked for leaks and properly serviced a leak was found in the belly of the compressor i had it repaired with the proper seals etc and charged to correct specs.

The description says it has plug and play jumper hardnesses, should work well. However, I have never installed one.

As for the A/C not being cold enough, have you considered cleaning the cabin air filter and heat/ac vents, etc? May help some and would be cheaper.

yeah I do know what it was but today it seemed like the a/c was cold. What I did was I turned it on and brought the yukon up to 2k rpm's and it was cold after that the entire time. When I got the service they cleaned up the condenser. You mentioned the cabin air filter this might sound dumb, but does the 96 yukon have one? If so how to i access it? I am also a little confused on the e-fan becasue I am unsure where I would connect the harness to? I would like to buy one becasue I live in a place where it gets to be in excess of 115F. I also live near the Mexico border and get those long lines to come across, so an e-fan for the condenser is neccecary for me. maybe Ill buy it and see where I can connect it to. if anyone else can give some insight that would be great. 96 Shouldnt have provisions for an electric fan, so you will need to get a relay, a control unit, a fuse and hook it to a battery feed on your fusebox. Good luck.

Yeah I didnt think it was a direct fit. According to autozone(where I found the e-fan) they claim it fits my vehicle. If the case is that it doesnt fit i rather pull one from a junk yard complete with harness relays etc.

I believe it will fit your truck, the thing is that you will have to "hardwire" it to the battery as stated. It isn't that it will not fit, it is just that your truck ha no wiring provisions for it to be plug and play is all. I believe this to be the case regardless of the type of efan you install.

ok I will try it out, do you have any suggestions for wiring? I am familiar with basic wiring and have a good sodering iron and heat shrink tubing but I have no idea how to wire this up. What would I need? I just want this to turn on when my a/c turns on. I am unsure where I need to tap into to get this running. Any advice you can give me or maybe point me to the correct place would be awsome..Thanks!

ohh I also forgot will the 2006 and up e-fans from say a silverado sierra etc fit the stock yukon radiator? My whole issue is I want little modification but if those e-fans work without modifying the shroud or cutting anything(except splicing wires) I rather go that way. Anyone have any idea if those e-fans fit my 96 yukon?

If you go the Efan way, replace the factory shroud with the newer setup, The helper fan if it is a pusher could be installed infront of the condenser and IIRC from my fusebox there is a spot for a Aux Cooling fan that is keyed on from the compressor, IDK if there is actually wiring there or not, I suspect not tho...... If you know how to run some wires, you need to activate a coil on a relay from the positive feed on the compressor clutch thru the relay coil to ground, use the COM / NO contact to feed FUSED battery from one of the battery posts on the fusebox to the positive feed on the fan, other ground lead on the fan goes to ground - this is for the aux fan.

For the Efan setup, you would want some kind of controller that would activate the fans at a preset temp (it would trip a relay that would engage the fan), some of these thermostat/ controllers you put a wet bulb into the radiator hose and clamp it down, some you stick a pin in between the fins on the radiator, etc. Good luck.
