hi all, new to forum. i am interested in replacing my 200K plus 5.7
just wondering what my direct fit options are. i would like to upgrade frome the factory spec engine. thx in advance!

i been wondering same for my 96 model,they did have a tech article on fsc.com about swapping in a 5.3 but looked like alot of work

go with the the 7.4 vortec. its easy because it was used in the same year suburban. i dont know if you would need a new tranny or not though. I've heard of people on this forum having trouble with the 5.3 swap.

Hi all newby here I myself want to change the motor out with a different one I am going to build my own 383 internally balanced motor only because I didnt want to change tbi parts and others for the 7.4, plus the current motor has everything I'll need for the swap if money is an option then stick with crate sbc just because you have the parts off your old one, and then just have the chip reburnt for new application.

GM's crate 383 is the perfect bolt in replacement for our trucks. It only requires swapping the dual plane intake with the Vortec intake and EFI. It even has the correct heads.
