Hello, I am new to this forum and I'm sure this has been broughten up before. I purchased a HID conversion kit for my 2007 Yukon XL. I was told I needed H13 bulbs however the ballast doesnt fit????? The outlet from the truck is 3 prong and the ballast will only except 2 prong. The kit did come with a wiring harness/adaptor with one end of it that plugs into the ballast and the other 2 wires(im guessing a neg and a pos) am I suppose to just jam these two wires into the bulb plug from the truck? Feel a little uncomfortable doing this. These were purchased from Ebay, seller swears these should fit.. has anyone else had this problem or is this just a case of wrong parts from the seller??

No offense, but I'm thinking you just don't understand how the harness is supposed to work. Is this a bi-xenon kit, or just a single-arc kit?

1) The thick red wire (+) connects directly to the positive (red) battery terminal.
2) The thick black wire (-) connects to a chassis ground.
3) You should have gotten a female H13/9008 socket with three pins that you will use to connect to the factory bulb harness wire on one side. Depending on the harness, you might need to know what wires to use to fit into the H13 connector (there are three wires, blue, brown and white, I believe). Also, this doesn't draw power -- it's just to trip the relay. It doesn't matter which side you connect it to.
4) The oval shaped connectors connect to the ballast.
5) The ballast (if they don't have out-board ignitors) will have a fixed twin-connector wire coming out that connects to the HID bulb connections on each side. These are probably color-coded.

Not sure what your issue is. Pics would be helpful -- so would a call to your vendor, I'm sure! DOH!!! It gets easier once you've done a couple... ;)

Thanks for all the help. I've actually done this before but never with this wiring harness I got, it was always plug and play. Unfortunatley I don't have pics but I'll try to explain: Out of the ballast you have a think wire which is obviouse it snaps into the wiring of the HID bulb, back to the ballast you also have a female inlet, inside that inlet there is only 2 prongs, the truck will only plug into a 3 prong plus its a little bigger to even fit into the ballast, therefore the kit came with a harness that fits into the ballast and on the other end is 2 wires(red and black) if I hooked those 2 wires straight to the battery I would have no control over on/off... hopefully that helps??

Do you not see another three-pinned connector and a relay on there? That three-pinned connector connects to your factory wiring at the headlight, which controls on / off. If you don't have that, then you must have the wrong type of harness...and I'd understand why you're confused! :)

The harness is very simple.. 1 end plugs into the ballast, the other end is just 2 wires(red and black)...

yeah, been trying to get in contact with the seller. Hes now avoiding me. I ended up putting a complaint in with Paypal today. NEVER AGAIN, will I buy from Ebay... too bad I learned my lesson the hard way. I've gotten a few PM's from different vendors here offering REAL HID's for my Yukon.

Yup. I'm sure those same vendors would sell you just the proper harness you need with the H13/9008 connector, so you can get your setup working. Probably a better option than buying a whole new kit, yes? Also, I've seen harnesses available via eBay, but as you know, your mileage may vary...

wow, i dont feel to good about my order now. Gw i really appreciate your input, but i dearly wanted 55 watt hids and they were the only people i could find them from. if its not too late and you can show me a better 55 watt kit i would get it in a heart beat. but every thing just clicked and talked to a buddy right after you GW and he has had one of their kits for over a year and a half now, with no issues. fingers crossed. but also have paypal back up. :D

Good news! Paypal dispute worked and ebay seller agreed to refund. I just have to send this garbage kit back.. I will end up going with a vender on this forum due to all the good feedback from everyone. My kit from ebay was a 8000k. I had 6000k on a previouse car but got flashed allot from on coming traffic.. So what would be a better bet for my suv, 6000k or 8000k?? I know its my own preference but just like to get feed back. I've seen pics of 8000k but don't think ive seen a car in person with them. Are they really a blue-blue tint?? I'd like to stick with the simulated Escalade look.. The pics ive seen 6000k-10000k all look the same but probably look totaly different from each other in person. Any preference anyone? and why?

...$80 including priority shipping

I dunno, dude. The kit definitely looks nice. But that's an unbelievable price, which leads me to believe there's something wrong with the kit... Also, I love how they're avoiding the eBay auction fees with the $24.99 item price and the $54.99 shipping fee. :skep:

Let us know how this kit holds up. At $80.00, it's almost a throw-away, and I'd consider one for my lovely daily driver ('97 Dodge Caravan  ).

I hate the blue / purple HID look. Screams "ricer" and "look-at-me", IMO. I like 5000K, and I wouldn't go any bluer than that. Cops see the blue / purple ones and tend to pull them over more around here. I will stick with 4300K-5000K in my vehicles. The 5000K just have a tiny hint of blue to clue you in that it's an HID, and that's it.

Hello, I actually own an HID company. The reason it has two prongs is because it only has a low beam. You have to find out which of the three prongs of the cars plug is the high beam, and dont use that one. an adaptor plug for that harness does not exsist as far as i know. You gotta push the power and ground pins into the correct spots on the plug. Dont worry, if you hook it up wrong you will either blow a fuse or it just wont work til you hook it up correctly. Just make sure you tape it up when your done. If you have any further questions just feel free to ask.
