Need a little help with my traction control. My light is coming on when I am on dry pavement. The tires are not slipping. Humming noise in front of steering column. Vehicle loses power! This only happens when I am at low speeds, 1st gear. I have had it into the dealer and they can not replicate the issue. It happens often and I am concerned about losing power in the middle of a busy intersection.

Anyone have knowledge on this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Does your Tahoe have stabilitrak or the regular traction control? My '04 has Stabilitrak and it was giving me "STABILITY SYS ACTIVE", "TRACTION ACTIVE" and "STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED" randomly, never all at the same time. Sometimes the brake peddal would flutter like it does when ABS kicks in, sometimes I would just get the power loss that you experience. However, it always kicked in when needed, too.

I don't know much about the subject so maybe somebody can explain it to you better, but I took it into the dealer a few days ago and they said mine was a sensor in the steering column, but he said there are also sensors on the back end. That could also be what you are experiencing. I don't know where you're from but he told me they get a lot of these cases right when the weather starts getting cold again.

Just take it in and see what the problem is, hopefully it's still covered under warranty!

I am from NE Ohio, the vehicle has been parked outside, and yes winter has arrived. The symptoms started maybe 3-4 months ago. I believe I have Stabiltrack but I am not for certain. Yes the problem is intermitant.

After your sensor in steering wheel was replaced did the symptoms go away?

Yeah, I've probably put 2k miles on it traveling for Christmas and New Years since I had it fixed and haven't felt it once, unless of course it should have activated. That sounds a lot like mine, it started one morning when it was like 20 degrees after being 80 for six months. Wish I could tell you what it cost but I never saw the bill they sent it right to my extended warranty company.

If you have Stabilitrak, you should have a button on the dash to the far right
Sounds like a sensor to me. is there an ABS light on? It works with ABS System

Yes, it sounds like I have Stabiltrack...I have the button on the right.

Good news is I took the GM Mechanic out for a spin in theit lot and I was able to replicate the issue 3 times with him in the vehicle. Loss of power, DIC message, dimming lights and the humming noise.

I will let you know what they find out.

Thanks for your response.

I Got One That Dose The Same Thing, But Found If You Park It With The Steering Wheel Straight Every Thing Works Fine, But If I Park It With The Wheel Turned It Goes Haywire Right Away On A Takeoff

The dealer has had the car since last Friday, going on 5 days now. Pretty sure they are clueless but are trouble shooting the electical system. I told them to keep it til it was fixed, my warranty is up on October 08. Hoping I will get it back today, fixed, but remaining cautiously optimistic!

I will report the findings once it is fixed.

Results per dealer: "Found left front hub activating ABS when it should not be. Replaced the left front hub." So far it seems to be fixed, took the car for a short spin and no issues. As info
