So, I'm an idiot when it comes to vehicles and usually have someone else do the work..but I figured I could do this one.

I am changing the lower radiator hose on my 05 Tahoe Z71.

My question is after I've drained the fluid and replaced the hose is there anything special I need to do for refilling it?

There is no radiator cap so I assume I fill the reservoir but do I leave the cap off when I let it warm up? Do I need to do anything to get the air out? Or do I fill it to the cold line, cap it, and check it a day or so later to see if it has dropped?

Thanks!

You have answered a lot of your own questions. Add coolant at the reservoir, that is the cap for the system. Before restart after changing hose add a 50/50 mixture of correct coolant and when it gets to full line in reservoir, stop. If you have a pressure tester use it now and check for leaks or just look at the area of the hose change and see if has any leaks. Start the engine, the level will drop a bit. Turn the heater on and monitor engine temp gauge and the heat output. Just let it run till heat feels right and the temp of engine looks normal and top off as the engine runs as needed. Roadtest and monitor the gauge and then recheck and add as needed. Recheck, with pressure tester or sight check for leaks. Monitor this for a couple of days and watch the level in the reservoir.

Oh, one thing. So does the Tahoe not need to be burped manually or anything to get air bubbles out? just fill, go, and check?

Fill slowly and let the air purge from the system and then when you restart and the thermostat opens and closes the level will change and again, add slowly till full. Roadtest and check check check and monitor for 2-3 days.
