I can tell when my Tahoe needs a throttle body cleaning and I use Seafoam as needed. Works great and brings the pep back. I can tell when it needs cleaning just by the low idle and sluggish off the line feel, plus when really bad engine would try to die when you turned real sharp at low speeds. Anyway when throttle body needs cleaning and you get a low idle I get a metallic rattling type sound coming from under/around engine somewhere. You can barely touch the gas pedal to bring up the idle and the rattling sound goes away. The rattle is directly tied to low/rough idle. It sort of sounds like a a piece of sheet metal rattling slightly. It only rattles when stopped with foot on the brake which brings the motor down to its lowest idle point, then you hear the rattle start up. If you push on gas pedal just enough to bring the idle up 100 or so rpms the rattle goes away. My throttle body does need cleaning but its not so bad yet, just the rattle noise at low/rough idle bothers me. ITs like aT low idle its just the right roughness or frequency to make whatever it is rattle. Anybody have any idea what it could be?
