I was going to change my fuel filter today, replacement has the plastic tabs for locking in place and removal. Got AC replacement filter crawled under my Yukon and could not find the plastic tabs on origional filter!!!!!!!!!! Does it require a special tool for removal or WHAT!!!!!!!!

It is a rather unpleasant arduous task. Better to have the truck up in the air where you can see clearly what is going on. The new filter is MUCH easier to change than the original. There is a special tool you can buy from any auto store but with mixed results. I ended up removing the rear tube and then removing the filter from its holder. That gave better visual to what is needed. I ended up cutting the filter off the out tube with snips. Then I could finally get the tool inside to release the 4 tabs. After removal through the old tabs away and use the new plastic ones.
