Grrrr, just need to vent here for a minute…
We’ve got a 2003 tahoe, just hit 80K miles, the speedometer has just intermittently stopped working. Did some research here, found that there was a TSB and an extended warranty till 70K. Great, were just outside the extended warranty and now it stops working. Took it to our dealer (who has been very, very helpful in the past), they looked at it, said it was too far out of warranty to do anything with, but recommended we call GM customer care. Called GM, waited for a few days, they called the shop, called the “regional managerâ€â€¦yada yada yada, called me back this morning to say there was nothing they could do about it and they were sorry. Got an estimate from the shop for $410, and im not sure if that includes labor or if it is only the part… Ugg.
Its stuff like this that swayed our business to purchase a medium-duty delivery truck from another manufacturer, not chevy, a month ago . And its stuff like this that makes me think real hard about dropping 40+ grand on a new tahoe. I realize that stuff breaks, especially on a 5 year old truck, and I don’t expect chevy to cover everything that goes wrong on a truck with 80,000 miles on it. But GM is well aware of a major problem with the gauge cluster, that is why they extended the warranty on it to 70,000 miles. We clearly had a problem cluster, the issue just didn’t show up until we were slightly out of their extended warranty range.
End Rant.
