I've got a 03 Tahoe that slowly powers down when driving and the check engine light comes on. Took it by the dealer and after hooking up their code reader, they told me I was getting a P0178 Code and that I needed a new flex fuel sensor, about $700 to replace. I've never used anything but unleaded in it and wasn't in a hurry to replace a $700 sensor. I looked online and found a dummy sensor from DSP Electronics (GM Flex Fuel DSP Emulator Module) and purchased one. My mechanic installed the dummy sensor and thoroughly went thru their installation and troubleshooting page while doing so. The check engine light went out, after this for about an hour and then came back on. I contacted DSP and they told me to drive it a while and the light (check engine) should go back off. It never did. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how they went about fixing it? I don't want my wife stuck on the side of the road somewhere and I don't want to pay $700 to fix it. Am I just wanting my cake......
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.
