Hey guys,
Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I could find a dash bezel for an 03' tahoe? I'm looking to install my double-din nav unit in the 02' Tahoe Z71 I just bought and it sounds like these are a must for the install. I've seen all the aftermarket stuff online but haven't come across any oem units.
Thanks in advance!

You can try places like autoanything.com, ebay, and even local salvage yards from a decent truck. The 03+ bezels are NOT a direct fit though. The HVAC control placement will need to be changed and the bottom doesn't match up to the lower console. It's a lot easier to mod the opening of the existing bezel. I always just mod the dash for any customer who wants to install a DD unit into the pre-03 trucks.

Really??!!
I've read some threads about guys doing the moding but it looks next to impossible to cut the bezel (sounds like a dremel is the consenous) and have a clean, factory look. I've no stranger to modifying dash, had to do it in my maxima to make the unit fit originally, but I really want a clean look. The demel always melts the plastic in my experience and it's hard to get a good, clean edge.
Any other advice on it would be great though, I'd love to get the unit to fit!

You can use a cutoff wheel on the dremel, but you have to use a slower speed or it will melt the plastic back together. I have a Dremel that has an adjustable speed of 500-35000 rpms. I usually run it about 500 rpms for abs plastic of comparable thickness as our bezels. Once you trim it to the size you need, use an assortment of files and different grit paper to round the edges like the factory trim and smooth it out. I posted a thread of my dd D3 install with pics. Try to search dd nav in my 01. That should pull it up.When I get some time later tonight I'll search for it and post the link if you don't find it by then.

Thanks for the link. That's actually the thread I previously read. So I suppose worse case, if I screw it up I can just get a new bezel and a different head unit.
So basically, supply wise, you have the 1/2" material for the spacers and the abs plastic you used to cover the sides? Where would I get the plastic? Was that a pain to do as well, how did you attach it? I have the same D3 unit and would love for it to look that clean!!
Thanks again!

You can use the trim piece that comes with the D3. I ended up making a new trim piece because somehow one of my little girls ended up scuffing the original piece on the garage floor. If you measure and mount the unit just right, the trim that comes with the radio will slide onto the face, then the bezel will fit right over it and hold it in place nice and snug.
