02 Yukon XL Idling at 2200 RPM

I'm new to this forum and would really appricate any advice. Here's my story. My change oil message came on and so I did an oil change. I followed the in the owners manual to erase the message. The instruction consits of turning the key on but not starting the yukon and pressing on the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds then turning the key off. The process to reset the message worked. I then started my yukon and now it is idling at 2200 rpm. My buddy told me it may be the idle air control (IAC) he was completly WRONG. I have sence replaced the IAC following the instructions from my chilton book and it still is idling at 2200 rmp.

I baught a code scanned and this is what it telling me.

OBD-II trouble codes: P0122-TPS/Pedal Poisition Sensor a circuit Low imput ?

P0507-Idle Control System RPM High?

Did you check to see if your acc. pedal is caught under your floor mat??
I've seen it happen more than once!!

im not sure if a 2002 one is but my 2006 is drive by wire. that may be what its talking about. just a guess. i have no idea

There is a sensor on the acc pedal that could possibly be bad or your throttle position sensor. There is no typical throttle cable; it's electronic. You have to know the reference voltage and sensor voltage ranges in order to test the parts to figure out which one is bad. I'm not sure if the Chilton's will have the specs on the sensors or not though. If you do not have the means to test which sensor is bad, you may have to just take it to the dealer.

There is an actual throttle cable on mine. When I unplug the TPS the idle will drop to around 1000 RPM's. I also unpluged the MAP sensor and nothing happen. So I'm guessing it's the TPS that is bad?

Then more than likely your tps. Is yours an LT or LS? Just curious because some 00-02 models were cable and others were ETC.

I change the TPS and now the it's idling around 4000 RPM's. Mine is a SLT autoride.

I was able to fix my throttle issue. The throttle cable was not allowing the butterfly to close completly. The lever to the gas pedal was some how bent just enought to catch on a bracket next to it. This was not allowing the cable to fully extend. I grinded the bracket back just a little and its flowing freely.

The truck has been park ever sense it started. All I ever did was start it up and chek the RPM's.
