I have a 2001 Yukon XL 2500 8.1 with the autoride shock system. I have almost 110K miles on it and tow a 9K travel trailer. I am considering changing out the rear shocks with air shocks to stiffen the ride with camper. I would like some opinions about removing the autoride shocks....if it's a good idea and how to fool the system to prevent the warning message on the dash. Another question is my rear drivers side window won't roll down. Does anyone know the part number for the window regulator?

The autoride on the 2500's is different than the half tons I dont know exactly how it works but I dont think it has Air shocks.

I am wanting to disable the autoride system and put air shocks on the rear. Mine has the electronic autoride system that sends an electric current to the shock and changes the viscosity of the material in the shock. At least that's what I have been told. I know I don't have the version that uses a air compressor to level it like in the 1500 models.

Ok hopefully someone else will chime in and can offer more info. I dont understand how the 2500 system works to be able to help you but it sounds like your describing the magnetic ride control used in other GM vehicles but I dont think thats how yours works. I dont know if you can put resistors on like the 1500s or not. I know the 2500s have leaf springs in the rear so Im not sure that you the difference you are looking for. Hopefully someone can help you

Maybe removing the shocks and disabling the system isn't the right way to go. Has anyone on here put helper springs or the add on air bags inside the springs on theirs with the autoride system? How did that come out?
