Well I found the problem. It was a blown fuse under the hood. My son had checked them with a test light but only on the hot side, imagine his surprise when I hit the fuse with my test light and didn't get it lit up, priceless. Thanks for all the help.
New guy here looking for answers. My son was installing some LEDs under the dash of his 98 and shorted something out. He had them plugged into the cig. lighter and crossed the wires. his stereo quit as did his hatch release and the OBD II port. there were no blown fuses, are there any fusible...
