Does the gauge go straight to hot when you turn the key on or does it gradually go to hot as the motor runs? If it goes straight to hot you might check the temp sender wire to see if it's rubbing against anything that would be grounding it out. If it gradually gets hotter as it runs I would...
Well that was it. Dropped a new distributor in it, hook everything up and she fired right up! Runs nice and smooth now. Took a look at the old one and it was all rusty in the pick up coil area. So glad that's over. Thanks for the help guys!
