Took my Tahoe in to the dealer for an oil change and was told I need to replace 2 brake pads (1 front and 1 rear) and turn the rotors for $600. Is it necessary to turn the rotors? There's no squeaking. Tahoe has 51K miles. If I want to do this myself, any advice on what pads to buy...

Thanks. I did a Google search on clay bar and the pics shown of contaminated surfaces seems identical. Would you recommend one company's product over another? I can't wait to try it.
