hey just want to hear some of your input my 96 oil pressure when hot at an idle is about 5-10 when cold 40. is this normal, or almost time for an oil pump

Mine, when i'm on the pedal, is right under 40 hot or cold.. and when not on the pedal it drops down under 20..

should be around 15 at idle and 45-50 at run hot.around 40 at start and 60 runnin.

how many miles on motor. check your sensor first,in behind disributor. make sure wires are good,boots arent broke or corrosion. if u have chilton book there is a electrical check to make sure your getting the right power to the sensor. there is no check for sensor itself. try those first than check for oil pump.:thumbsup:

my truck only has 86,000 thats why im surprised to see it so low, will check sensor later

mine stays above 40 for the most part, little above 20 when its warm and idleing.

about to roll over 167K here.

40 to 50 hot running, 15 or so hot idle. A little higher cold. 98000 on the clock.

So I've noticed mine has been staying around 60-80 when cold the last couple days, what does this mean?

most likely your oil pressure switch. I suggest changing this out if this doesnt fix your issue try a new oil pump. GM's are known for faulty oil pressure swithces..
