    Starter Brand Information

I've used the Advanced Auto(AAP) lifetime warranty starters on alot of trucks. Only had one that bad, very noisy/grinding, after replacement. The starter itself was the noise issue, not the flywheel gear or starter bendix. Shimming the starter did not change anything. Benched the starter and...

    Trouble starting Tahoe

Fuel pump check valve? It's in the fuel pump assembly. This will cause you to excessively "prime" the system with "key on, key off" before actually cranking engine. It's a costly "trial and error" fix. Hope it isn't that. OBD II doesn't catch all problems, all the time. It is good for a...

    Trouble starting Tahoe

I had 2 trucks come in with same symptoms. Two different solutions though. 1st was a bad crank sensor, plastic housing got hot too many times and cracked. 2nd one was a MAF. For some reason it always wanted to be "warmed up" before it would function. As I have a stock of "known good" parts...

Need help with starting problem after slight cool down

I always try the cheapest fix first. I have seen many fuel pumps pass a pressure test and still not FLOW enough fuel to the injectors. Change the fuel filter first. Clean the IAC seat in the throttle body and the IAC itself. Try cleaning the MAF next. Hope this helps.

    Hydroboost system

Around the circle first. The small hole at the bottom is a weep hole for condensation. An oily residue coming from this hole could indicate an internal seal leak which would require a rebuild/replace. I sealed both when I did it, with no problems.

    Hydroboost system

I had a '87 K3500(Plow Truck) with the same problem. Cost of replacement was to high. Guy at parts store told a cheap cure. Clean area around base with carb/brake cleaner, use a pick and small wire brush to get it as clean as possible. Get some HIGH temp adhesive and apply it liberally...
