The driver side wiper in my '03 has a weak spring in it, and as such it doesn't put enough pressure on the wiper blade, so it's either streaky at best, or has an enormous dead spot directly in my line of sight at worst. The other thing I've despised about them from day one is the fact that they don't lock in the up position for cleaning snow off the windshield. Which, you'd think it'd be reasonable to expect they would since that's been a standard feature of every car built since 1985, but what do I know.

I do know, however, that wiper arms from a 99-02 Silverado were designed by people who have experienced winter at one point or another, and can lock in the up position if needed. I'd rather replace my screwed up wiper arm (and the ok one) with a set of those if they bolt up the same as a replacement 03 arm. Has anyone done this?

It's NOT the spring. I fought the SAME issue on my 03 for a while.. Just replace that 22 inch wiper blade with a 20 inch.

The 22 inch one is too long and the extra length causes it to "lift" in the sight line.

Keep the 22" in the passenger side tho.

That sounds like it could be right, although the spring response of the passenger wiper arm is a lot stronger. I'm going to test this out and get back to you.

20" Blade worked like a charm. I still have wiper arms designed for Los Angeles but at least I don't get completely blinded by saltspray on the highway anymore.
