Just thought I would post some pictures about one of the reasons that we bought a Denali.

On our way to the state fair in August last year the white van turned across our lane and we T-boned him going about 60mph. My wife, my 6 month old daughter, our 2 year old daughter and I were all in the truck. My wife broke her foot and I hit my hand on the windshield. (the last pic)

We owned/own (trying to sell) a grand caravan, and the only reason that we were driving the truck that day is because I was picking up a tool box that I had just bought for it.

I am convinced that if we were driving the van things would have been a lot worse. The impact of the crash caused the white van to spin 180° into the ditch, while we just stopped in our tracks.

This is one reason I would Strongly recommend a Tahoe/Suburban type SUV to anyone. The way the truck held up is amazing. The cab of the truck was not affected by the accident at all. (The reason my wife broke her foot is because she braced for it.)

Just thought I would post this.

Thank you for posting this as it reinforces the the reason I am willing to sacrifice in other areas in my budget to afford a Tahoe as you can't put a price on safety. Those pictures speak volumes as to why we drive our trucks and are willing to pay the price to drive them. Trucks can always be replaced people can't.

I was in a serious accident when my '04 Tahoe was 6 weeks old and it held up like a tank. I wish I had the pictures to show how strong these trucks are. I was sitting at a red light waiting for the light to change. I looked back to see an Expedition seeming to speed up, not slow down. She hit me doing 58 MPH, I slid into the Pathfinder in front of me, and the impact was even strong enough to slam the Pathfinder into the car in front of them. It ended up being a 4 car pile-up. The first thing I remember after that was somebody coming on Onstar and saying "Mr. Weathington are you alright?"

My car should have been totalled, the back was totally caved in and the front sustained major damage, but I walked away unharmed. The drunk woman driving the Expedition that hit me broke her leg, ankle, nose, and right arm. That's gotta tell you something about how well these things hold up in an accident....

hmm accidents, somthing, (thankfully) i have not had to deal with in the yukon. now my 99 yes. ( my big red burban) engine side end collision with a school bus. was the school bus's fault as the idiot ran a red light. WHEN MINE WAS GREEN, and that was her 4th accident in 6 months, needless to say one of the lawsuit conditions was that she was fired ( she refused to pay, saying i should have watched out more) but she did her time ( well lost her job and had to pay me), i was accelriating was at about 15mph and she had floored it to make the light ( didnt of course) doing about 35 in a 25 school zone, and sided me thankefully that big 7.4 liter took the hit. i walked away, damage YES, but i was still able to drive the truck home after the police inspected it, and inspected the accident. but i walked away SORE YES, but nothing broken. now suprisingly the damage was mostly cosmetic. no damage to the frame or major engine parts. yes i needed new parts. but i was surprised they said DRIVE IT HOME, ITS FINE. and 8 kids said their neck and back hurt ( i think to get out of going to school though. this was about 3 years ago.

needless to say that was one of the reasons i made sure to get the XL. version. GO GM.

and no matter how much money this thing costs me i do not care knowing im safe and sound.

I drove a 2000 short wide. was heading down a feeder road and coming up behind a Caddy DVille, went to change lanes and kid in a honda accord came up and neary rear-ended me(i saw him in the rearview, but he was way back and was flying by the time) slammed on the brakes and swerved left for the shoulder and ended up clipping the back driverside of the Caddy, sending it into a parking lot. my rear drivers side tire slid off the pavement and when the back end swung back onto the pavement it snaped the tire, rotor and all clean off. rolled it five times, sliding on the roof for about 80 ft (according to witnesses) landed on the 3 wheels i had left. walked away with a broken tailbone and a mild concusion.

Those pictures are crazy. I've never been in a wreck when I was driving, one pretty bad one with my mom when I was in Jr. High, but luckily none for me. I always have Onstar active just in case.

BAMA- your truck looks almost exactly like mine. Thats really funny, I've probably only seen a dozen of them since I bought my Tahoe in October 2004. I really like it for that reason, I get sick of seeing all the white and beige ones around here. Sometimes I see some blue ones, but they just do not look good without the wheel flares like we have.

Looks like a clone. Mine just hit 43,000 miles. I had a choice of a bergundy or dk. blue when I bought mine, they were the only two leftover 2004 LT's in the area with bucket rear seats, so needless to say I picked the navy blue. Haven't ever regreted that decision. The only thing I don't like about it is how bad dust shows on the grey interior. Seems like I'm wiping it down twice a week and then picking off the towel lint.

That is the primary reason I have for buying my truck, I almost bought an evo but I can't stand being around big ass trucks in such a small car. With the number of idiot truckers driving around I want to keep as much steel around me as I can

The dark blue was a no-brainer  . I special ordered mine, I needed the dark blue over gray and quads.

I had the dust too, but now I take it in and have it detailed every week that I'm in Clearwater at an "auto-spa" by my house. They charge $80 bucks, but that's good a fair price since they handwash, wax, and finish off with microfiber towels to the inside and out, that takes care of the lint :yesnod: .
