Hi guys, I'm a noobie to the forum. I just picked up an 01 Ls with 71k miles. It's my first real truck and I love it. I'm hearing this whining sound mostly @ highways speeds. It's faint and only happens when on the accelerator. Goes away when letting off the gas and comes back when on the gas. Its constant while cruising, can't tell if its from the front or rear. I just replaced all differential fluids, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, cabin filter, coolant was flushed and oil changed. I used synthetic for the rear diff. as the manual recommends. Anyway the noise was there before I did all this. Anyone ever experience this before ? Anyone who these trucks have info. for me it would be appreciated.

Also looking to pick up a used tan cloth 3rd row seat. Anyone know where I can fine one.

It could possibly be your alternator :( ... or your fuel pump...it depends on where it's coming from...

Thank I'm leaning more towards the fuel pump cause it happens on the gas and goes away off the gas. I'll try to pay more attention and pin point where its coming from. Thanks !

+1, common issue on the 8.25ifs differentials. Kind of a pain to check but you can grenade the housing if it lets go. I would keep an eye on it and if it gets louder you might want to drop the case and check the backlash. These trucks don't have hubs either.

I have that same whine you have,It happens only at cruising with slight acceleration, with hard acceleration it goes away,Im sure its the front diff and it will have to get rebuilt soon,Good Luck!

As for the third-row seat, check ebay for those. They're on there a good bit and sell for around $300 to $400 + $150 shipping if memory serves.
