I'm trying to figure out wich tranny cooler would work best in transition with the stock one. I'm not sure if I need a 1/2" fitting or not, or is the 14,400 btu B&M cooler enough? I just want to make sure that my tranny is plenty cool when I'm pulling my Travel Trailer about 5500lbs. I have the 04 5.3l. Does anyone else have this one with an aftermarket cooler??

Basically, get the biggest one that you can physically fit behind your grill, as soon as my wife gets back today with the yukon, I will go out and measure what I put in. As for brand I don't know, I have a pretty honest and awesome tranny shop locally that put mine in and they just go by dimensions. It made a huge difference when towing my toyhauler around compared with the stocker!! Highly recommended!!!

In this case bigger is better but don't forget that the cooler design will play a role as well. Your typical tube and fin cooler will not work nearly as well as the plate style.

Bigger is better. The cooler you can keep the tranny fluid, the better. Fluidyne makes a great cooler. Here is a write-up in case you may be interested when I replaced my cooler.
