Hey everyone I'm pretty new here, I've actually been on for a couple of weeks but I thought I'd stay on the sidelines for a while. Well the reason I'm posting is I am planning on buying a Yukon sometime around December. My questions is would my savings be considerably less by purchasing in December as opposed to May of 08? Also, what is the best way to find the exact Yukon I want? I can't seem to find a Yukon configured the way I want. Once I pick a certain option all of a sudden I have 2 or 3 options that I don't want, and these aren't options that are bunched together. Any help would be appreciated.

Ahhh the joyous world of car buying.

If you want ONLY the options you want, then you'll probably have to order your Yukon. The downside there is, unless you can get a GMS certifcate and find a dealer who will accept it, you're going to be stuck paying more than if you get one from dealer stock.

The other track is to be more flexible with your options and if you can find one in dealer stock, they may be more willing to work with you.

As for time of year - the car business is cyclical and there are better times to get a deal. Typically the end of the model year is best - late July through September is the time to buy last year's model - selection isn't as good but the dealer doesn't want old stock on the lot. December isn't too bad but not as good as January or February which are the leanest months for dealers.
May can be OK if there are factory incentives around Memorial Day.

Good Luck!

Don't forget right before everyone is paying taxes. March can be a slow month and they sometimes (like this year) put out financing incentives.

I am waiting to buy one myself, a 2007 Yukon that is. I have some options that I will be picky on and then others not so much. I figure I will start bugging dealers as soon as 0% financing for 5 years is availible. I don't want to pay thousands of dollars on financing if I don't have to, I can be patient even if I have to wait till next year when the hype goes down on the new Yukon/Tahoe.

I guess that's the way I feel as well. I am willing to give up some options but others not so much. I'm considering either an SLE 3SB or an SLT 4SA the dilemma being whether or not to get the leather. I have young kids and I think the leather might hold up a little better.

With the incentives it is a bit like a gamble. Just took delivery of my Yukon XL Denali which I purchased last week with $3000 off. This week it is just $2000 for not any particular reason. This time I was on the lucky side. :)

Navigation

Does getting the Navigation automatically get you the rear seat DVD? I hadn't considered the navigation but when I went to check that option I saw that the rear seat DVD was also checked off.

Some of the onine configurators do that, but at least on the Yukon I sat in several that had the navigation with no rear seat DVD.

Depends what system you get. U3U is navigation only, the other one comes with rear DVD.

U3U for is the Tahoe right? Well I did go to the Tahoe build and it did not check off the same as the Yukon. The Yukon's equivalent is UVB, it states nothing about rear seat DVD yet when you check it off the Rear seat DVD is checked off as well. Well thanks for the help guys.

It is bor both the Yukon XL Denali and the Suburban. So I thought it also is for the 'hoe.

So it is; I just checked. U3U nav only and UVB with rear DVD.

Thanks Jim, what I meant was the a regular Yukon SLT doesn't have the U3U option. It only has the UVB and like you said that comes with the rear DVD.

I'm doing very well right now, both on leftover or new order.

Another thought - GM tends to run monthly promotions that expire the first Monday of the month. Sometime the next week they announce the new incentives Usually late Tuesday or first thing Wednesday. Occasionally they will let you back date a contract and get a peek at the next incentive program. That lets you overlap the programs and pick the best offer. But it can be tricky.
