What the heck is up with my fuel gauge ???

Was on a quarter tank exactly, parked my car at a friends and ten minutes later jumped back in to go home and it was about halfway between the quarter mark and empty and remained there the entire ride back. When i got back in to go get groceries about an hour ago the gauge was back to quarter tank.

Float may be sticking...

When i got back in to go get groceries about an hour ago the gauge was back to quarter tank.

I have noticed something similar...it may be that the float in the tank may have gotten to a low level because you were parked on an incline and then it sticks a little before it floats back up to the correct level once you get on level ground...I may be talking out my a$$, but at least I provided a theory...
