I've got an '02 Tahoe LT non-Bose with OnStar. My OnStar is not activated. What's the little round (approx 2" diameter) perforated thing in the headliner, directly above my left ear? Is it some sort of mini speaker for the OnStar system?

Mine makes an annoying buzz for the first 2-3 minutes while my rig is cold; once the cabin is normal temperature, it's totally silent. I can't figure out what purpose it serves.

Can anybody tell me what this goofy little thing is?

its for the auto climate control. It sucks in air. My 03 silverado makes a wierd noise at start up. Dealer wanted 90 bucks just to see what was wrong with it. :smilielol:

Like RT stated, it's for the auto climate system. It's a small fan that draws in the cabin air to a thermistor to tell the hvac computer the temp of the air so it can adjust the hvac system accordingly. A lot of times you can blow compressed air into it to clean it out and get rid of the noise.
