I am running 305/50 Yokohama Geolanders on 20" rims. I am debating whether to go smaller width to save gas, go taller for more ride comforts since I lost sidewall going from 16" to 20". My set up right now is already 2.5" taller than stock diameter, giving me the difference in side wall by only .8". (This info gathered using a tire calculator)

I am debating between sticking with the 305's or going to 285/65, I even saw a 305/60 on Tire Rack. My biggest question would be would more sidewall equate to a softer ride? How much mpg do you think I had lost going from the stock 265's to the 305.

Thanks

Yea, generally a taller sidewall will net you a softer ride. However, the make up of the tire is what really determines the quality of the ride. The tire construction, sidewall plies, a soft or hard rubber compound, etc.

But you have 20's, and with 20in+, you're not really going to find as soft a riding tire as would say a 16" tire. Its just not gonna happen.

I have to disagree.I have 305/45/22 and that is the best ride I have ever had.I put the stockers back on for about 400 mi and hated it.
