I'm a new guy here and I'm looking at getting a 2000 Yukon Denali. It has 127k on it and runs perfect! It spent most of it's life down south so there is no rust anywhere on it and the underside looks brand new!

Now being new the the GM brand is there anything I should look for? I know these motors can last if they are taken car of. The truck was dealer maintained it's whole life and anything thats been replaced was OEM. Thanks in advance, Jason

Well I figured it would be better in here since it's the same body style as the 99. So it's the OBS.

I'm sure I'll forget something thats common but the major things i can think of off the top of my head:

-intake manifold gasket leak
-gunk build up in the coolant overflow bottle and radiator from air leak in the radiator caps
-leaky air conditioner pump seals
-make sure the trans is still in good condition.

and then all the normal things you'd looks for in any other vehicle. make sure all the gadgets work, 4wd works, sell me the console... :) j/k.

ok OBS then is like mine I think, sorry to refer you to the other section.

same as above, intake manifold leaks in the very front, and across the back. look for this about 80K+ miles.
radiator goo, dont use that dexcool stuff, use the regular green stuff after your first flush.
Check the 4wd FOR SURE. umm... the factory Bose system will need a new head unit... then ultimately new speakers. and finding that amp is impossible...
Watch for excessive play/slop in the steering.. fixable, but a common issue here.
wiper motor seems to go a lot in here... another is the sticking mode actuator.. seen that more than once..umm.. dunno, theres probably more, but I cant think of anything right now.

Fuel pump whine.. signaling the end of life for the pump (its in the tank, for added PITA)

The center console has huge issues... too many to list. I would remove it right away and sell it to someone on this forum. :D When you get it out of there, let me know how you did it, so I can take mine out and stuff it with some new subs, a gun holder, and a 6-pack cooler.

and welcome.

Well in the last 27k miles the dealer has replaced the water pump/fuel pump/ battery and all fluids have been flushed and replaced. The miles are all Highway miles. I don't think the intanke manifold gasket has been changed yet. The only thing I seen that it may need is new shocks? Not sure whats on there stock but it does have some Blistein's on there now.

Everything does work great and there is no rust even on the underside of it. What do you guys think would be a fair price to pay?

not exactly sure what the reg. going price is on them now, but i've seen a few on the local lots for around 8K (probably many more lies though)

you don't have to replace the dexcool with the green, just take care of it. you won't have any problems... (i have a engine with 170K on it that proves it..) the major problem that causes the gunk is the bad radiator caps that came on some of them.

yeah... pull that console and sell it to ME!!! :) seriosuly if you buy it and ever want to sell any of the interior pieces let me know...

Well I think I'm going to pick it up this week. I'm getting from a good friend of mine for 5600. Seems fair to me.

i'd definetly pick it up for that price. back when i bought my hoe you were lucky to find them under 10K and that was only 2 years ago.

and pete is right, i've been wanting to turn my hoe into a 2-door escalade or denali, leaning towards the denali. dash, door panels, seats, console, front end.... but thats where that ends and the offroad parts begin. custom made winch bumper, rear swing away tire carrier/bumper, roof rack, along with all the stuff thats already been done to it, and a lot more. completely different than what you see on the road and shows everyday. fully functional on and offroad with all the great features of a luxury truck on the inside.

any planned mods to the denali?

Well not to sure how far I want to go with the mods but would luv to lower it a couple inches and put some newer wheels on it. Just going to make this a nice clean daily driver that will hopefully last for awhile. Like I said before I'm new to GM's. Mainly been a ford guy because the 2 other GM's (s-10's) I had were nothing but problems and I bought those new!

192k miles here on a black 99 denali. Always ran dexcool and have replaced rad only once.

Bose headunit still works although i have replaced 2 speakers.

Wiper motors are still good too...knock on wood.

Well guys I just picked it up today. Also found out a few more things. The intake manifold gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, radiator and hoses where all replaced within the last 27k miles with OEM parts. Not to mention all fluids have been flushed and replaced in the last 3 months. The truck rides great! and I will try and get some pics up in the next couple days since it was raining all today:(

Not sure what they call it but it's the darker green with grey interior. I already luv the truck.

Anyone know what shocks these come with from the factory??

Bilstiens. I had them replaced at abot 110k with some "el cheapo" monroes and really couldn't tell the difference. That is just me though. Can anyone else comment on this?

BTW, replacement bilsteins were priced for em at like $500 wheras i got a set of 4 monroes for a tad over 100. Any i think they are still OK at 192k.

Well it doesn't seem to need them but I did price them out and I can get all of them for around 250. So it doesn't seem to bad.
