I've been chasing this problem around forever on my wife's 07 Tahoe LTZ and was hoping somebody else may have had this problem. We lowered it shortly after we got it, and several thousand miles later, it started this weird "honking" noise when taking certain turns at speed. Now with almost 40k on the ticker, it's doing it more frequently. It's lowered with a McGaughy's 2/3 drop, but since it didn't do it right away, I'm doubting it's the lowering kit. I do get the occasional TCS/ABS lights due to strain on the rear abs wires when installing the kit, but no lights come on when the noise is happening.

It's now honking sometimes on straight runs, and is really bothering me because I can't figure it out. It sounds like a faint horn honking. Almost like an import's horn, maybe a few car lengths away. It possibly could be some kind of very fast vibration?

Any input is appreciated.

Did you lower it with a Spindle kit?
If so you're not the only on getting noises after installing the kit, but all I can think of is lubing/greasing some steering componets around the spindle.
Hopefully a suspension guru on here can tune in and help you ou more.

Yes, it is a spindle kit. I just reworked the whole front end pretty much. Both new outer tie rod ends, and a new passenger side lower control arm because of the ball joint. Of course, they didn't cover this all under warranty because of the lowering kit. I know I didn't damage the boots when I installed the kit either. Now that it's making the noise when going straight, I'm not really sure it's the steering. I dunno, I'm at a loss. :nonod:

Cool, thanks, I'll give it a shot. Can't hurt to give the caliper bolts a crank. I haven't put brakes on it yet, I bet it's gonna need em soon.

I forgot to mention that the dealer couldn't reproduce the sound, go figure, right?
