I heard that instead of paying for the OnStar phone service, I can just use my Verizon cell phone on a family plan and add a line. Can I do this although I have some minutes remaining on my OnStar? Do they just transfer the line?

Also, with the purchase of the Tahoe I received 1 year of free OnStar. Once the OnStar service expires, if I'm still using my Verizon Cell service to use the phone feature in the car, do I need to keep renewing OnStar? Verizon's page says they can set it up but there has to be an existing OnStar service. Not sure if this is just for sign up or as long as you want to use their phone.

As I understand it, you have to carry the OnStar service in addition to adding another phone to your Verizon account.

Vrroom, you will probably love those OnStar minutes you have, so I'd use them up before going to Verizon's family plan. I recently made the Verizon move and the service/convenience is great. Highly recommended.

Lose those minutes, not love. Early morning typing can be hazardous . . .
