I just got my Tahoe and during a 5 mile stretch of road going 40 mph my car remained in V4 mode for 80% of the trip and I averaged 34 mpg! Any body have any other numbers? My 04 navigator got 19 doing that same drive.

any other sweet spots? I just got the car and am going to try it at 50 mph and see how it goes. I have read that over 60MPH you dont get much V4 action.

I a have 3.55 (?) rear, and I do 80% of my daily 95 mile round trip commute at or above 70mph (Masholes ) and I get a lot of V4 action, especially out of the hills and onto the flatlands.

I had an 08 for about 5 weeks with 342 gears and 2wd and now I have an 07 with 373 and 4wd the 07 spend much more time in V4 mode it has to with the gears due to less throttle postion to attain acceleration on the highway i am actually getting beter mileage on the 07 than the 08 by about 1.5 mpg so far with only 500 or so miles on it. Also if your AC is on you will see a huge difference with the V4 mode.

FYI: The V4 mode has a ten minute cycle time and then goes back to V8 to let the four cylinders equalize temps. I've never had that problem cuz couldn't find a road that goes downhill for ten miles. :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Interesting, that coincides with an auto rental place telling me they got rid of all of the Dodge Magnums in their fleet because it shut down the cylinders for too long on road trips, it caused the pistons in the shut off cylinders "to seize"

That would be a bummer.
