upgrading the wheels (17" to 20")

I recently bought a new Tahoe and unfortunately it came with the 17" standard wheels.. i already bought a new set of the 20" polished and they have the sensors in them.. i was told i new to adjust the tire pressure monitoring system to read the new tire pressure.. i can do this from the owners manual someone told me..

what else do i have to do to make these wheels like they came from the factory? i would assume i need to recalibrate the speedometer...

i already did a search on this topic and couldnt come up with anything..

I believe the computer automatically adjusts for tire size.

I think you'll have to have the dealer reprogram for the 20s.

I know that my 20's sit the same height as my 17's so the speedo is the same.

Eye balling it doesnt work..

totally not true... the standard 17's have a sidewall height of 7.3 inches.. 265/70/17 .......for a diameter of 31.6 inches

The 20's are a 275/55/20 tire... which has a sidewall height of 5.95 inches.. for a overall diameter of 31.9..................

ya know something... im not going to erase this... my math was wrong before i started this reply..! and i did it again and realized we are only talking about a .3 inch of a difference..so you are pretty close to being right... my bad... and considering that a taller sidewall has more play in it im sure we are only talking .2 inches difference...

if we want to get crazy theres a little difference..

A taller tire registers a faster or slower speedo? At first guess I would assume you are going faster than the speedo displays.. in addition you will be putting on less miles in the long run... but so MINIMAL its silly to be talking about it.. unless we want to get all OCD about this..

the taller the tire the speedo will read slower.
