I've never been able to wear a set of tires evenly. All tires have begun to wear badly along the insides. I have an '02 Tahoe LS; first and only owner. Since '02, when I purchased the truck, I've gone through two sets of tires, and going on my third set. The original tires (Firestone Wilderness) began to wear out excessively uneven, and decided to purchase a new set, Toyo Proxes. With the new set of tires, I had an alignment done, and appeared to not require any adjusments. I did my best to have the tires rotated and rebalanced every 6k miles. Nonetheless, 50k miles later, the tires wore out just as bad as the original set. On to the third set; I decided to go with the Toyo Open County A/T, and included another alignment, of course. These tires seem to be more resilient, but now I'm starting to see some very uneven wear after 20k miles. I'm still keeping with the frequent rotations/rebalance, but now I'm convinced there are some dark forces working here. I dread taking my truck into the dealer, for fear of getting stuck for lots of $$$ for a fix that may, or may not address my problem.

Has anyone else come across this same issue? Any suggestions?

Any suspension mods, like lowering kits, installed? Or, non-OE shocks, springs, etc?

After reading my orginal post, I should clarify that the uneven wear appears to be happening in the front. After several rotations, all tires show the uneven wear.

I have an 02 Yukon and have the same issues. Most of the wear is on the inside of the tire.

Maybe you hit the same pot holes or speed bumps everyday??? I agree with Rollin Thunder, sounds like an alignment problem. I was told to get an alignment every six months with my old A/T's on the Ford.

Yes my '04 had major tire wear issues. And the uneven wear always occured on the front. My fronts eventually became bald on the inside even though there was plenty of tread on the outside. But now that I have new Toyos and the truck has been aligned, I'll be sure to rotate them every 5k miles and see what happens.

To quote Billy Crystal: "Hello?!?" :D Can anyone check alldata or something to see if there's any TSB's about suspension/alignment on the front end? It's probably pretty common as it sounds from you guys here!!! :yesnod: Would maybe explain some things on my old 2004...

well, if you off road or dont avoid pot holes insted of looking like a drunk idiot when swerving to miss them, then your alignment can be altered pretty easily, i get my oil (castrol gt) and tires rotated every 3k , every 6k i get all the fluids flushed and tires rotates and i get an alignment, and i use synthetic EVERYTHING, over kill, beyond yes, but it pays off, if you see how hard i play, especially in my yukon then you will under stand why i do all this matinence.

yup, thats what i do, she gets aton of love, just so she does not get jelous of my new denali. lol. but sometime i change the tires at 15k insted of the usual 30K, and plan on a new drive train at 80k, engine and tranny with a new crate engine right from chevy preformance, im thinking a 572 if it will fit in there, i have already started a specail savings account fund and deposit any loose change i find or have left over, so far i have 4 dollars in there, but only about 30k on the OD so hopefully a good bit of time to save up the 15k dollars for the 572. :cool2:

After reading that and another article, it sounds like you might just have too much toe-in to compensate for the RWD, but I dunno...

Okay, now off to bed...:sleep::sleep:
